IronBirds Get Blown Out, Lose Sixth Straight

Wappingers Falls, NY - The Aberdeen IronBirds suffered their worst loss of the season Sunday night, as they fell at the Hudson Valley Renegades 15-1.

IronBirds starter Jake Cowan retired the first 10 batters in a row to start the game, before hitting trouble in the fourth. With one man down, Hudson Valley loaded the bases. Kyle Holloway hit a two-run single. A batter later, Leonardo Reginatto hit an RBI-single, making it 3-0.

The Renegades scored two more in the fifth. Back-to-back singles put runners on the corners with one man out. Matt Rice grounded out to first, scoring the run from third. Jeff Malm then hit an RBI-single, making it 5-0.

Cowan left the game after Malm's single. He surrendered five runs, all earned, on six hits in 4.2 innings of work.

The Renegades poured it on in the seventh and eighth innings, scoring 10 runs on 11 hits over the two frames.

Aberdeen got their one run in the eighth. Chris Clinton led the inning off with a triple. He scored on Austin Knight's RBI-single.

Robert Dickmann (2-0) got the win. He pitched four shutout innings of relief. Cowan (0-3) took the loss.

The IronBirds will play two more games against the Renegades at Ripken Stadium starting Monday evening. Aberdeen will have right-hander David Baker (0-1, 3.68) on the hill. He'll go up against right-hander Jason McEachern (2-0, 0.54). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
