Iowa Wins Finale to Take Series

Oklahoma City - The Iowa Cubs took their five-game series against the Oklahoma City Dodgers with a 3-2 win Tuesday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Iowa grabbed the game's first lead in the top of the second inning before rain moved into downtown Oklahoma City and forced a delay of 2 hours and 13 minutes in front of a crowd of 4,859.

Oklahoma City (42-36) tied the game once play resumed, but Iowa responded with runs in the fifth and sixth and held on to win the five-game series, 3-2.

With heavy rain beginning to fall at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and with two outs in the top of the second inning, Iowa's Matt Murton scored from third base on a wild pitch by Hyun-Jin Ryu for a 1-0 I-Cubs lead.

Once play resumed in the top of the second inning after the rain delay, starting pitchers Ryu and Iowa's Clayton Richard, both on rehab assignment from their respective parent clubs, were replaced on the mound. Logan Bawcom came into pitch for Oklahoma City and Aaron Brooks, also on rehab assignment from the Chicago Cubs, for Iowa.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ryu allowed one run and two hits over 1.2 innings with two strikeouts in his third rehab start with OKC. Richard, who joined Iowa on rehab assignment from the Chicago Cubs Tuesday, recorded two strikeouts in one inning.

The Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the second inning. O'Koyea Dickson led off the bottom of the second inning with a single. He advanced to second base on a single by James Ramsey and to third base on a groundout by Shawn Zarraga. Then with Jack Murphy batting, Dickson scored on a balk by Brooks to tie the game, 1-1.

In the top of the fifth inning, rehabbing Chicago Cubs infielder Tommy La Stella hit a RBI single on a grounder into right field to break the tie and give Iowa a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, a sacrifice fly by Munenori Kawasaki gave Iowa a 3-1 advantage.

Iowa (38-39) loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning with one out. Outfielder Alex Hassan took the mound for Oklahoma City and induced two flyouts to escape the jam. The pitching appearance was Hassan's second of the season as he also pitched in a May 16 game for the Dodgers.

Dickson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to cut Iowa's lead to 3-2 with two outs. He finished the game 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs. The home run was his eighth of the season and third in four games.

Oklahoma City's Zach Walters then grounded out to end the game.

Oklahoma City pitcher Ross Stripling (0-1) was activated off the disabled list Tuesday and was charged with the loss, allowing two runs and three hits.

Brooks (1-1) allowed one run and four hits over 4.0 innings with no walks and two strikeouts. Felix Pena got his second save of the season with Iowa.

After an off day Wednesday, the Dodgers open a four-game series in Nashville at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at First Tennessee Park.
