Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES - The Iowa Cubs, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, announced that lefty Clayton Richard will begin his rehab stint with the I-Cubs today. Richard was sidelined on June 21 with a blister on his left middle finger.

With Chicago this season, Richard tallied a 0-1 record with one save and a 7.30 ERA. He has been limited to 12.1 innings over 22 games.

Richard was traded from the Pirates to the Cubs on July 3, 2015 for cash. Prior to the trade, Richard had spent his season with Triple-A Indianapolis, but had his contract selected by Chicago immediately following the trade. He spent the rest of the season with Chicago, save for one short stint with Iowa in which he made one start on July 23. He threw seven shutout innings to take the win over Nashville.

Iowa looks for a series win today as it takes on Oklahoma City in the series finale at 11:05 a.m. CT at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Follow the action on AM 940 or at www.iowacubs.com.
