"Our new partnership with Mediacom provides us with an alternate platform to reach fans all over central Iowa," said Iowa Wild President Todd Frederickson. "As we continue our growth as a sports entity in the state, we want to connect with sports fans in the area, Media c om helps us do that."
Five total games will be shown live on Mediacom 22 starting with Opening Night on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:05 p.m. against the Oklahoma City Barons at Wells Fargo Arena. Mediacom Communications is the nation's eighth largest cable television company and one of the leading cable operators focused on serving the smaller cities in the United States, with a significant concentration in the Midwestern region. MC22 is a basic cable channel available to all Mediacom customers in 310 Iowa communities and communities in adjacent states. It is used to deliver exclusive programming of local and regional interest.
Mediacom's plan is for live broadcasts of those five games - replays that will be dropped into the schedule at various times over the 10 days that follow the live game. Better yet - viewers that "time shift" can simply go to our OnDemand channel (#1) and select local programming to watch at anytime. The Iowa Wild games will also be included there. Although we know sports fans prefer the LIVE experience, Medicom has a steady and growing number of viewers spending time watching OnDemand.
