
Pirates Announce Opening Roster

Portland Pirates News Release
Saco, Maine - Phoenix Coyotes Assistant General Manager and Portland Pirates General Manager Brad Treliving announced the Portland Pirates opening roster for the 2013-14 season.
The Pirates roster will consist of 23 players; 15 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders. In addition, Treliving announced that goaltender Louis Domingue and forward Brenden Walker have been assigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL and that Greg Coburn and Karill Tulupov have been released from their tryouts.
The Pirates opening roster consists of the following members:
Forwards (15)
Ethan Werek, Tobias Rieder, Jordan Szwarz, Tim Kennedy, Kyle Hagel, Brandon McMillan, Brendan Shinnimin, Mark Louis, Jordan Martinook, Keven Veilleux, Andy Miele, Phil Lane, Brett Hextall, Darian Dziurzynski, Brandon Yip
Defensemen (6)
Daine Todd, James Melindy, Mathieu Brodeur, Mathieu Briesbois, Connor Murphy, Brandon Gormley
Goaltenders (2)
Mark Visentin, Mike Lee
15 members of the opening roster spent time with the Pirates during the 2013-14 campaign, including Andy Miele, who led the Pirates in points last season with 53. Tim Kennedy rejoins the Pirates, where he spent his rookie season in 2008-09, after spending 2 years with the San Jose Sharks organization. During his rookie year, Kennedy led the Pirates with 67 points, including 49 assists.
Defenseman Mathieu Brisebois, one of the 5 rookies on the 2013-14 roster, will become the first ever Lewiston MAINEiac alumnus to suit up for the Pirates. Brisebois was a member of the 2009-10 MAINEiacs team before finishing his QMJHL career with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
The Pirates open their first full season at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on October 9th at 7 PM when they look to defend their VIP Cup Series title, presented by VIP Parts, Tires, and Service, against the Manchester Monarchs.
