Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch will celebrate their 20th home opener with the help of fan-favorite, former player 'Big Bad' John Badduke.

Badduke will make a special appearance at Upstate University Hospital Opening Night on Oct. 12 when the Crunch host the Rochester Americans at 7:00 p.m. Badduke will participate in a ceremonial puck drop and be available for autographs during the first intermission.

Badduke was a member of the inaugural Syracuse Crunch team in 1994 and quickly became a fan favorite playing in parts of the 1994-95, 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. Badduke totaled 10 points (8g, 2a). His 649 career penalty minutes ranks fourth in Crunch history. A banner honoring Badduke was raised during the 1998-99 season after a fan vote recognized him as the fan favorite during the franchise's first five seasons.

The Crunch kick-off the 2013-14 season with a visit to the Binghamton Senators on Oct. 5 followed by their Upstate University Hospital home opener on Oct. 12 against the Rochester Americans.
