Iowa Cubs News Release
BUFFALO, NY - The Iowa Cubs (14-8) opened their six-game road series against the Buffalo Bisons (12-9) with a 8-2 victory on Wednesday evening from Sahlen Field.
Iowa was first to strike in the contest with one run off Buffalo starter Alek Manoah , who is on Major League Rehab assignment, in the top of the second inning. David Peralta started off the frame with a base hit and eventually came around to score on a single by Jake Slaughter .
In the third, Iowa padded its lead with a couple of long balls. Brennen Davis , making his Triple-A debut this season, launched the first home run of the inning for a three-run shot. A couple batters later, Slaughter followed with a two-run homer to make it 6-0.
The scoring continued in the fourth for Iowa with two more runs crossing the plate. Owen Caissie added another RBI to his season total with a single back into center field, which scored Miles Mastrobuoni , and Luis Vazquez continued his productive start to the season driving in a run on a groundout.
