
Iowa Energy Home Opener Sunday against Defending Champions

DES MOINES, IA, December 6, 2013 - The Iowa Energy will play their first home game of the year on Sunday at 4 PM against defending NBA D-League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The game will feature $1 hot dogs, a magnet schedule giveaway presented by Anderson Animal Hospital, and the ZOOperstars! will be performing.
The Energy are off to a 3-1 start, with all four games on the road thus far. The Vipers are 6-0 and are averaging 134 points per game. Rio Grande Valley has won 22 straight games dating back to last season. The two teams have combined to win three of the last 4 NBA D-League Championships with the Vipers winning the title in 2010, the Energy in 2011, and the Vipers winning last year.
The Energy's Othyus Jeffers was named the NBA D-League's player of the week for the opening two weeks of the season, averaging 25.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. The team plays the Erie BayHawks tonight at 6 PM. You can watch the game live on YouTube or listen on 1350 KRNT.
