Iowa Energy Fall to the Maine Red Claws

Portland, Maine - The Iowa Energy (17-21) fell 115-101 to the Maine Red Claws (23-15) at the Portland Expo Thursday night.

The Energy were led by Patrick Christopher with 16 points and five rebounds.  Andrew Harrison had 15 points, two rebounds and two assists. Ramon Harris picked up a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Six Energy players scored in double figures. The Red Claws were led by Coty Clark with 27 points and 14 rebounds.

Maine would lead for most of the first quarter. The Red Claws opened up a seven-point lead mid-way through the quarter. Iowa would finish the first on a 10-2 run to briefly take the lead with 38 seconds left before Maine scored at the end of the quarter to hold a 29-26 advantage. Iowa was led by Maxie Esho with eight points in the first. It was a close battle in the second quarter, with 11 ties and three lead changes. Harrison and Christopher got things going combining for 17 points in the second. The Energy and Red Claws were tied 57-57 at halftime.

Maine got off to a quick start to begin the second half by opening up an eight-point lead. The Energy cooled off in the third and shot just 28.6 percent. Maine outscored the Energy 25-15 to hold a 82-72 lead. In the fourth, Maine went on an early 9-0 run to open the lead up to 20 points. Iowa responded with a 12-0 run of their own to cut the lead down to nine points. Iowa was down only four points with 4:30 to play. Maine hit two quick three-pointers to push the lead back to nine points. Iowa fought hard, but was unable to climb back and fell 115-101.

The Energy continue with their fourth and final game of the road trip Friday night in Delaware at 6 p.m. Iowa returns home Sunday, March 6 for Faith and Family Night at 3 p.m.
