Iowa Energy 2013-2014 Schedule Released

DES MOINES, IA, September 5, 2013 - A weekend heavy schedule was announced today by the Iowa Energy as seventeen of the team's twenty-four home games will be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday this season.

The Energy open their season on the road at Tulsa against the 66ers on November 22nd. After a five game start on the road, the team will host their Opening Day game on December 8th at 4:00 pm against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the 2013 NBA D-League champions.

Six days later, the Energy will host Opening Night, a 7:00 pm start on Saturday, December 14th as they host the NBA D-League's newest team, the Delaware 87ers.

"It's unique that we will host both an Opening Day and an Opening Night, and we are excited to have two celebrations to tip off the season," said Energy General Manager Chris Makris. "With our first home game on a Sunday at 4pm, we wanted to feature both that game as well as our game the following Saturday - which is more traditional for an opening night. Our fans will love this schedule as the eight Saturday nights will all feature world-class entertainment and we will round out an exciting promotional schedule in the next few weeks."

The Energy will again participate in the NBA D-League's Central Division with Sioux Falls, Tulsa, Austin, Texas and Rio Grande Valley. The last four NBA D-League Champions have come from the Central Division and three of the final four teams in last year's playoffs were as well.

In addition to the schedule released today, the Energy will take part in the annual NBA D-League Showcase to be held in Reno in early January. Opponents, dates and times for the Showcase will be announced at a later date.
