Charge to Play 16 of 24 Home Games on Weekends

The Canton Charge, the exclusively owned and operated NBA Development League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, will defend their East Division title when they tip off their 2013-14 campaign at the Erie BayHawks (New York Knicks affiliate) on Friday, November 22nd at 7:00 p.m. The entire slate of games for all 17 teams was announced by the NBA Development League office today.

The 50-game regular season schedule consists of 24 home and 24 road games, with two mid-January matchups at the annual NBA D-League Showcase, which makes its return to Reno, Nevada for the third straight year (matchups to be announced at a later date). Of the Charge's 24 home games, 16 will be on the weekend (five Friday, eight Saturday, three Sunday). East Division opponents account for 32 games on the schedule, while the Charge have 11 games against Central Division opponents and five against the West.

Canton will play nine of their first 13 games at home, beginning with the home opener against the newly minted Delaware 87ers (Philadelphia 76ers affiliate) on Saturday, November 23rd at 7:00 p.m. The Charge will meet East Division foes Delaware and the Springfield Armor (Brooklyn Nets affiliate) a schedule-high eight times over the course of the season. Canton's longest home stand of 2013-14 will be a five game set from March 8th-15th. Their longest stint away from home is a six-game trip from January 2nd-19th, not including their two Showcase games which will also take place during that stretch. The Charge will play 17 back-to-back game sets, with six at home, seven on the road and four split.

The Charge will host the defending D-League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate) in Canton on February 18th, while they will make their first-ever visit to Santa Cruz to face the 2012-13 D-League runner up Warriors (Golden State Warriors affiliate) on January 4th. The Los Angeles D-Fenders (Los Angeles Lakers affiliate) will make their first trip to the Hall of Fame City with a pair of weekend matchups at the Civic Center on March 14th & 15th. Playoff rematches from last season against the Tulsa 66ers (Oklahoma City Thunder affiliate) will take place in Canton on December 11th and in the regular season finale in Tulsa on April 4th.
