Armor Announce 2013-14 Season Schedule

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, will tip off their fifth season on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7:00 pm ET on the road against the Maine Red Claws. The Armor's home opener is set for Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:00 pm ET against the Idaho Stampede (Portland Trail Blazers affiliate). The entire schedule of games for all 17 NBA D-League teams was also released by the league today.
The 50-game regular season schedule consists of 24 home and 24 road games, in addition to two mid-January games at the annual NBA D-League Showcase, which will be held in Reno, Nev. for the third consecutive season (details to be announced at a later date). The Armor will play 16 of their 24 home games on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and fans will see 10 different teams take the court at the MassMutual Center. The Armor will take on the rival Red Claws (Boston Celtics affiliate) and Erie BayHawks (New York Knicks affiliate) nine times apiece and the Canton Charge (Cleveland Cavaliers affiliate) eight times. Springfield will play 24 of its 50 total games against teams that qualified for the 2013 NBA D-League Playoffs, including 13 of 24 home games this season.
The 2013-14 NBA D-League season will feature three divisions, East (Canton Charge, Delaware 87ers, Erie BayHawks, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Maine Red Claws and Springfield Armor), Central (Austin Toros, Iowa Energy, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends and Tulsa 66ers) and West (Bakersfield Jam, Idaho Stampede, Los Angeles D-Fenders, Reno Bighorns and Santa Cruz Warriors). The league, which featured 16 teams during the 2012-13 season, added a 17th team for the 2013-14 season when the Philadelphia 76ers purchased their own NBA D-League team, the Delaware 87ers. The 87ers will play their home games on the campus of the University of Delaware in Newark, Del.
