Lexington Legends News Release

Ian Gac's two-run homer completed a four-run outburst by Kannapolis in the third inning, and the Intimidators went on to beat the Lexington Legends 8-1 Tuesday night at Applebee's Park.

Rafael Vera and Daniel Wagner hit back-to-back doubles to start the third, giving Kannapolis a 1-0 lead. With one out, Wagner scored when shortstop Jiovanni Mier threw past first on a grounder hit by Kyle Colligan. Gac followed with his fourth home run of the year, a drive over the center field wall to make the score 4-0.

Kannapolis added another run in the fifth inning, and Gac's RBI double in the seventh made it 6-0. The Intimidators plated two more runs in the ninth.

Lexington's only run came in the bottom of the eighth when J.D. Martinez was hit by a pitch, Jake Goebbert walked, and Kody Hinze singled to score Martinez. The RBI was Hinze's 27th of the season, best in the South Atlantic League.

Matt Wickswat (2-3), who relieved starter Matt Hopps in the third inning, got the win. Starter Brandt Walker (1-2) was the losing pitcher for Lexington, which has now lost six straight.

The series continues with an Education Day game at Applebee's Park Wednesday. First pitch is set for 10:05 a.m.
