Salsbury One-Hitter Highlights Twinbill Sweep

Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Augusta, GA - BJ Salsbury delivered his second low-hit outing of the season and Chris Dominguez drove in all four Augusta GreenJackets runs in a doubleheader sweep over the Greenville Drive on Tuesday night. The Jackets took the opener by a 3-1 margin and Salsbury's one-hit gem provided the 1-0 triumph in the nightcap.
In the opener, Chris Dominguez doubled down the left field line to score two and put the GreenJackets ahead 2-1 in the fourth inning. Dominguez drove in an insurance run in his next trip to the plate to provide some breathing room for Augusta closer Jason Jarvis.
Jorge Bucardo turned in another fine outing for the GreenJackets, earning his first win of the season in five solid innings. Bucardo (1-2), allowed just one run on two hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Jarvis put a couple runners on base in the seventh inning but induced a groundout to seal the win in game one and notch his sixth save of the year.
The nightcap was all about Salsbury, as he stole the show with seven strong innings of one-hit shutout baseball. Salsbury (3-2) allowed a single to leadoff hitter Reymond Fuentes on a dribbler down the first base line in the first inning. There was miscommunication between Salsbury and first baseman Luke Anders, resulting in Fuentes reaching first safely. He would be Greenville's only base runner of the night because Salsbury sent the next 21 hitters packing to seal the shutout victory.
Salsbury fanned five in his one-hitter, his second start of the year where he allowed one hit or fewer. In his first start of the season, Salsbury fired six shutout innings against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He also becomes the first GreenJacket to throw a complete game in 2010.
In the bottom of the first, Dominguez singled home the lone run of the game. The GreenJackets loaded the bases in the third inning with one out but could not add to the 1-0 lead. Augusta picked up all six of their hits in the first three innings of game two. Greenville starter Yeiper Castillo (1-2) found a solid rhythm after the first three innings, retiring the final 11 hitters he faced. Castillo, a hard-luck loser, allowed just one run and no walks in six innings while scattering six hits.
The teams meet for game three of the series on Wednesday night with Zack Wheeler (0-2, 6.23) taking the ball for the GreenJackets against Greenville's Kendal Volz (3-0, 2.74). First pitch will come at 7:05 p.m. with the pregame action beginning at 6:50 p.m. on WRDW AM 1630, www.greenjacketsbaseball.com and www.wrdwam.com.
