Intimidators swept in double header

Rome, GA - The Intimidators (14-10) lost both ends of a doubleheader to Rome at State Mutual Stadium to close out a four-game series with a split. Kannapolis fell in game one 2-1 and in game two 3-0.

The Intimidators combined for eight hits and one run in the two seven-inning games.

In game one, the Intimidators took a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a RBI single from Sergio Miranda to score Sergio Morales. Starter Charlie Shirek took a no-decision with five innings giving up six hits and one run. The Braves scored the game winning run in the seventh inning off Leroy Hunt with a run scoring error with the bases loaded.

In game two, the Intimidators left the bases loaded twice but couldn't muster much offense. It was the first shutout against Kannapolis in the second half and first since June 11th this season.

The Intimidators are off tomorrow before opening up an eight-game homestand against Charleston and Savannah.
