SALISBURY, MD - For the second straight game, the Kannapolis Intimidators pitch well and defend well but lose by one run, 2-1, to the Delmarva Shorebirds. The result comes one night after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Shorebirds.

Matt Hopps started the ballgame and worked well as he pitched five innings allowing two runs. TJ Baxter led off the game with a double and then back-to-back swinging bunt singles to the left side moved Baxter to third and then home for the first run of the ballgame.

Off Bobby Bundy (2-3) in the fourth the Intimidators (30-34) got their first and only run of the ballgame as Brady Shoemaker led off the inning getting hit by a pitch and then after a balk, Ian Gac singled Shoemaker to third. With no one out, Nick Ciolli stung one to the wall in left field that was caught on the run by Mikey Planeta, scoring the run on the sacrifice fly and tying the game at one.

Off Hopps (1-5) in the fifth after another leadoff double, Ty Kelly grounded into a fielder's choice having Baxter thrown out at second. However, Hopps threw two wild pitches allowing the runner to get to third and Kieron Pope singled in his second RBI of the ballgame, in what turned out to be the game-winning hit.

Josh Dowdy worked his second straight 1-2-3 ninth inning in a one run game as he picked up his tenth save of the season and the Intimidators have lost the first two games of the three game series to the Shorebirds (28-37) by a combined two runs.

The Intimidators look to salvage one game of the series as they look to Joe Serafin for the final time in the first half as he goes in search of his team-leading seventh win of the season. The Shorebirds will counter with Luis Noel for the 7:05 first pitch.
