
BlueClaws Come Back to Win 2-1 over Lexington

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Jonathan Singleton drew a two out bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning Tuesday night, and the BlueClaws pulled off another dramatic comeback win 2-1 against the Lexington Legends.
With one out in the 10th Keoni DeRenne walked, and Jiwan James slapped a base hit to right to put runners on the corners. Jonathan Villar was then intentionally walked by reliever Wander Alvino (2-1), but Leandro Castro flied out to shallow right for the second out.
That brought the red-hot first baseman Jonathan Singleton to the plate, and on a 3-2 pitch he checked his swing on an inside fastball to draw the free pass and clinch a scrappy 2-1 Claws win. Lakewood (39-26) stays one game up on Hickory atop the South Atlantic League North.
Lexington (33-32) drew first blood against BlueClaws starter Brody Colvin in the 8th. Grant Hogue hit a leadoff double, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a sac fly by Jiovani Mier to give the Legends a 1-0 lead.
Colvin was brilliant for Lakewood through 8 innings, allowing eight hits, one run, and striking out eight. However he left the game trailing by a run.
Lakewood came back in the 9th much as they have all season to tie the game. Leandro Castro hit a leadoff ground rule double to left-center that was a few feet away from a home run, and he scored on a one out base hit by Sebastian Valle. Valle advanced to second on the throw, but made it no further.
Ebelin Lugo (2-1) made quick work of Lexington in the top of the 10th, leading to Singleton's walk off walk and the Claws seventh walk off win of the season.
Wednesday night at 7:05 Lakewood RHP Colby Shreve (4-3, 4.24) faces Lexington RHP Juan Minaya (1-7, 5.34).
