LAKEWOOD, NJ - Tyler Cloyd kept the Kannapolis bats in check on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park, helping to shutout the Intimidators 2-0.

Cloyd (2-2) went a season-high seven innings without allowing a run as the Intimidators were shutout for the third time this season. The right-hander allowed six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out eight.

He outdueled Greg Infante (2-1), who lasted six innings, but gave up the decisive run in the sixth inning. Infante allowed just four hits, but he walked four, including Anthony Gose to start the sixth inning. Gose stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the first run of the game on a Jim Murphy double.

The Intimidators had a chance to equalize in the ninth inning. Kannapolis (15-12) had the tying run in scoring position with two outs against reliever Ryan Bergh, but Jon Gilmore grounded out to end the game. It was the fourth save of the season for Bergh.

The BlueClaws (15-11) added on to their lead with a run off of Charlis Burdie in the seventh. Burdie, like Infante an inning earlier, walked the leadoff man, before giving up just one hit to allow a run to cross. Burdie pitched the final two frames in relief.

Offensively, Drew Garcia stayed hot. The Intimidators second baseman notched two hits-the only Kannapolis player with a multi-hit game.
