Infante Slams Braves in Hot Rods 8-4 Win

Rome, Georgia - Diego Infante had three hits and four RBIs, blasting a grand slam in the Bowling Green Hot Rods (11-9, 52-33) 8-4 victory over the Rome Braves (15-6, 51-36) at AdventHealth Stadium in Rome, Georgia on Sunday afternoon. The Hot Rods have the next four days off due to the MLB All-Star game, returning to the field on Friday, July 22 at Bowling Green Ballpark with a 6:35 PM CT first pitch to begin a three-game series against the Asheville Tourists.

Bowling Green took a 1-0 lead against Rome starter Landon Leach in the first but did serious damage to chase Leach from the game in the second. Johan Lopez reached on an error to lead off the inning, but with two outs Mason Auer drew a walk and Ronny Simon was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Diego Infante hit a grand slam to put BG up 5-0.

The Braves got a run back in the top of the fourth, but Abiezel Ramirez hit a homer of his own to get the Hot Rods lead back to five with a 6-1 score. Rome scored three more in the bottom of the fourth to make it a two-run game, Mason Auer homered in the sixth and Heriberto Hernandez drove in Infante who collected his third hit of the game, putting the Hot Rods up 8-4.

Logan Workman allowed four runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts over 3.2 innings in a no-decision. Evan Reifert (3-0) threw 1.1 scoreless frames while allowing two hits with two strikeouts. Patrick Wicklander threw 4.0 scoreless innings while holding the Braves to one hit with four strikeouts in a save.

Notes: Infante's grand slam was the Hot Rods second of the season... Tanner Murray hit the other... Ramirez homered for the first time with BG since April 14 at Hickory... Workman picked off his fourth baserunner of the season... He leads all pitchers in pickoffs and is tied with Logan Driscoll for the team lead... Infante had his 20th multi-hit game of the season... He leads the team... He also recorded four RBIs in a game for the first time this season... Lopez had multiple hits in a game for the fourth time this year... The Hot Rods have the next four days off due to the MLB All-Star break... The team will return to action of Friday, July 22 against the Asheville Tourists at Bowling Green Ballpark...
