
INF Jonathan Mota Transferred To Triple-A Iowa From Tennessee

KODAK - The Chicago Cubs announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster prior to this evening's contest against the Jacksonville Suns at Smokies Stadium.
Infielder Jonathan Mota has been transferred to Triple-A Iowa from Tennessee. The Venezuela native in his 35 contests with the Smokies this season owns a .232 average (29-125), adding a home run and six RBI. It marks the second stint in Triple-A for Mota this year after recording a .224 mark (15-67) with one roundtripper and eight RBI in 26 games for the I-Cubs earlier this season.
The Smokies are scheduled to face off with the Jacksonville Suns, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, this evening at 6:15 p.m. RHP Pierce Johnson, rated by Baseball America as the 87thh overall prospect prior to this season, is set to take the hill for Tennessee, while the Suns are anticipated to send RHP Robert Morey (0-0, 4.05) to the mound.
