KODAK, Tenn. - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Tennessee Smokies at Smokies Stadium at 6:15 p.m.

Left-handed starting pitcher Chipper Smith has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to July 11 with a left hamstring strain. Smith this season with the Suns was 3-3 with a 4.02 ERA in 11 starts with Jacksonville.

The Suns roster now stands at 23 active players and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns and Smokies will be back at it on Saturday night, with first pitch set for 6:15 p.m. ET. The Suns will send out right-hander Robert Morey (0-0, 4.05) while the Smokies will counter with a righty of their own in Pierce Johnson (2-2, 3.79).
