Bradley & Borenstein Boost BayBears in 5-1 Win

PEARL, MS - The Mobile BayBears (56-36) snapped a 17-inning scoreless streak and a six game losing streak to the Mississippi Braves (53-39) with a 5-1 victory at Trustmark Park Saturday night. The BayBears broke their longest scoreless streak of 2014 with one run in the top of the second inning. With the win, the BayBears improved to 20 games above .500 and improved to 30-18 away from Hank Aaron Stadium, the Southern League's best road record.

Zach Borenstein singled to begin the top of the second and crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly to right from Evan Marzilli for Mobile's first run of the game. After Mississippi tied the score at 1-1 with a double from Kyle Kubitza and RBI single from Daniel Castro in the bottom half of the second, Mobile reclaimed the lead in the top half of the third.

Tom Bleza reached base with a single to center to lead off the third inning then advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Borenstein delivered an RBI single to center to drive in Belza, giving Mobile a 2-1 lead. The BayBears would add another run in the seventh when Sean Jamieson singled and scored on a RBI double from Jake Lamb and Mobile took a 5-1 lead with two more runs in the ninth.

Todd Glaesmann doubled in the BayBears last at bat then scored on a RBI triple from Borenstein and Ryan Court capped the BayBears offensive output with a sacrifice fly to score Borenstein from third. Just one night removed from being shutout on three hits, the BayBears posted five runs on 12 hits Saturday night.

RHP Archie Bradley earned his first win in four starts with Mobile this season. Bradley limited Mississippi to just one run on three hits, walking four and striking out five in 5.2 innings on the mound.

Mobile and Mississippi return to Trustmark Park for game four of the five games series on Saturday. RHP Mike Lee (6-4, 4.22) will take the hill for the BayBears while the Braves will send RHP Mitch Atkins (4-0, 4.17) to the mound.

The BayBears return home to Hank Aaron Stadium for a five game set with Chattanooga Lookouts July 16-20.
