KODAK, TN - In a well-pitched ballgame it was the Jacksonville Suns (13-9, 49-43) outdueling the Tennessee Smokies (12-11, 45-47) en route to a 2-0 shutout victory Saturday night from Smokies Stadium, earning themselves a series victory in the process.

Robert Morey (W, 1-0) looked sharp as he earned his first win of the 2014 season, scattering six hits over six shutout innings while not walking a batter and striking out four Smokies.

Casey McCarthy (H, 2) chipped in with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and one walk while finishing with a pair of strikeouts.

Nick Wittgren (SV, 13) collected the save by working a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning, striking out one batter along the way.

Pierce Johnson (L, 2-3) pitched well for the majority of his outing but took the loss after surrendering two runs (both earned) on three hits in 5.1 innings, issuing three walks while striking out five Suns on Saturday.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning, when Joe Benson ripped a two-out, two-run double off of Pierce Johnson to put the Suns ahead 2-0 in the top of the sixth. This would be the only scoring play for either side on Saturday night.

The Suns and Smokies will be back at it on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. ET. The Suns will send out lefty Justin Nicolino (8-2, 3.18) while the Smokies will counter with right-hander Eduardo Figueroa (0-0, 4.10).
