Biscuits Blast by Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Biscuits (46-47/11-12) launched three home runs and held the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (40-53/9-14) off in the ninth inning for an 8-5 win Saturday night at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

Ryan Brett was the first to hit a home run. His solo shot in the fifth inning gave the Biscuits a 3-1 lead. Richie Shaffer would follow with a two-run dinger in the sixth inning to up the lead to five. In the top of the ninth inning, Kes Carter sent a three-run blast sailing over the wall in left-center for his first home run with the Biscuits. The third home run gave the Biscuits an 8-3 lead and matched the team's season-high for home runs in a game.

Pensacola made things interesting. The Wahoos brought eight men to the plate in the sixth inning and but could only score two runs to make it a 5-3 game. In the bottom of the ninth, after two hits, a walk and an error, the Wahoos scored twice to bring the tying run to the plate. Josh Fellhauer struck out looking to end the game.

Luke Maile drove in Cameron Seitzer in the second inning to give the Biscuits a 1-0 lead, their first lead of the series. The Wahoos tied the game at one in the bottom half of the second, but the Biscuits came right back with a run in the third. Carter doubled then eventually scored on an error from Pensacola's shortstop, Devin Lohman.

Jimmy Patterson (3-0) went two scoreless-innings for the win. Santiago Garrido (7) allowed two runs in the final two innings but picked up his seventh save.

The Biscuits will look to even the series on Sunday afternoon at 4:07. RH Victor Mateo will be matched up against RH Ben Lively.
