Indy doubles up Tides, 10-5

Indianapolis plated four runs in the 3rd inning and five runs in the 7th, knocking off the Tides 10-5 Wednesday night from Harbor Park.

The Indians pounded out 16 hits in the contest, as six different Indians had at least two base knocks in the game. Rajai Davis, Ryan Doumit, Jose Hernandez and Carlos Maldonado each had two runs driven in for the Tribe, as the Indians sent the Tides to their fourth straight loss.

Norfolk's offense tied a season-high with 12 hits, with Mike Cervenak and J.R. House each collecting three hits in the contest. House is now hitting .405, and has hit safely in all 11 games this season.

Jay Payton, playing in his first game with the Tides on a major league rehab assignment, went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Payton struck out in the first inning, grounded out in the second, singled and scored in the fifth, and doubled and scored in the 7th inning.

Garrett Olson (0-1) took the loss for Norfolk, allowing five runs on six hits in 3.0 innings, walking two and striking out three.

Sean Burnett picked up the win for Indianapolis, improving to 3-0 on the season. The 24-year-old southpaw yielded four runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings of work.

The Tides will conclude their season-opening homestand with a 12:15 contest Thursday afternoon from Harbor Park. Right-hander Jim Johnson (0-0, 1.80) is slated to take the hill for Norfolk against Indy right-hander Bryan Bullington (1-0, 1.69).
