
Indians Win Third Straight, Top Norfolk 10-5

NORFOLK, Va. -- Indianapolis hammered out a season-best 16 hits while also establishing a season high for runs scored in a 10-5 win over Norfolk Wednesday night at Harbor Park.
Indians 2B Luis Ordaz and 1B Yurendell de Caster led the way with three hits apiece, while CF Rajai Davis, DH Ryan Doumit, RF Chris Aguila and C Carlos Maldonado all registered a pair of base knocks. Davis, Doumit, Maldonado and 3B Jose Hernandez recorded two RBI each in the contest.
The Tribe picks up its third straight victory and improves to 8-3 overall. The Tides fall to 3-7 with the setback. Indianapolis will look for the four-game series sweep on Thursday at 12:15 p.m.
After scoring a run in the first, the Indians increased the advantage with a four spot in the third. Hernandez highlighted the inning with his first home run of the season -- a two-run shot to left field.
Norfolk trimmed the deficit to one with three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. Indianapolis answered the call with five scores in the seventh to push the lead back to six. Maldonado spearheaded the Tribe's second big frame of the night with a two-run double to center.
Indians SS Brian Bixler extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in his last plate appearance, while Davis has now hit safely in eight straight affairs.
Indianapolis LHP Sean Burnett (5.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO) improved to 3-0 with the win. Norfolk LHP Garrett Olson (3.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) suffered the loss in his first decision of 2007.
The Tides offense was led by 1B J.R. House and 3B Mike Cervenak, who managed three base knocks each.
RHP Bryan Bullington is expected to take the hill for Indianapolis in the road trip finale, while RHP Jim Johnson is scheduled to start for Norfolk.
The contest will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 6:55 p.m.
Indianapolis opens its second homestand of the season on Friday at 7 p.m. The Indians will entertain Richmond in a four-game set (April 20-23) before squaring off with Norfolk in a brief two-game series (April 24-25).
