
Braves Win Streak Ends

Richmond, VA - The Louisville Bats beat the Richmond Braves 3-1 Wednesday at The Diamond. Phil Dumatrait pitched five scoreless innings and Tyrell Godwin had four hits as the Bats ended a three game Richmond winning streak.
The Bats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first. Godwin led off the game with a double and later scored on a fielder's choice ground ball by Aaron Herr. Godwin tripled and scored in the fifth to give the Bats a 2-0 lead. Richmond scored a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Doug Clark. The Bats added a run in the eighth when Bubba Crosby chased a run home with a single.
Dumatrait picked up his third win. Brad Salmon earned a save. Trey Hodges took the loss. Clark and Carlos Mendez had two hits each for Richmond.
The Bats and Braves conclude their four game series tomorrow at noon at The Diamond. Jonathan Johnson will pitch for Richmond against the Bats Tom Shearn. It is Education Day at The Diamond with students from 13 schools on hand for a day of educational presentations and baseball.
The Braves will wear Virginia Tech hats again tomorrow. Following Thursday's game Braves players will autograph the hats which will be auctioned off at www.rbraves.com. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund to aid victims of Monday's shootings at Virginia Tech.
