Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have traded Bisons INF/OF Russell Branyan to the Philadelphia Phillies for cash considerations.

Branyan was signed by the Tribe on Tuesday and played in one game with the Buffalo Bisons. He was activated before Wednesday's game with Ottawa and went 0-4 against the Lynx.

Branyan has now played 256 games with Buffalo during the 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2007 seasons. He leaves with 76 career Bisons home runs, the second most in the Bisons Modern Era. He was just three shy of Jeff Manto's Modern Era mark of 79 homers

Branyan hit .242 (228-941) in his Bisons career with 36 doubles, five triples, 202RBI and 155 runs scored. His RBI-total is the 3rd highest in the Modern Era while his .535 slugging percentage is T3rd. He ranks 7th in total bases (502) and 18th in games played (255).
