Indians Rally Late, Sweep Clippers

Columbus Clippers News Release
Despite a solid start from right-hander Trevor Bauer, Columbus could not avoid a four game sweep at the hands of Indianapolis as the Indians used a big eighth en route to a 6-2 win over the Clippers at Huntington Park.
Columbus got on the board first with an Omir Santos RBI single in the bottom of the second. Indianapolis later tied the game in the top of the third with a Felix Pie RBI double. In this game, Clippers righty Trevor Bauer (ND) pitched very well, striking out eight while limiting Indianapolis to one run on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings.
It would stay tied at 1-1 until the bottom of the seventh when Ezequiel Carrera stroked a solo shot over the right field wall. It then went back to a tied game with a Brett Carroll RBI double in the top of the eighth. During that same frame, Indy would retake the lead on a Lucas May three run homer and Matt Hague would also add an RBI single. That allowed Indy to complete the four game sweep over Columbus and lengthen their lead in the IL West division to 10.5 games. Graham Godfrey (W, 5-3) got the win for the Indians. Jerry Gil (L, 5-2) took the loss for Columbus.
The Clippers will welcome the Toledo Mud Hens to Huntington Park on Tuesday night. Columbus will tab righty Danny Salazar (0-1, 2.08) as their starter on the mound. Toledo will go with right-hander Shawn Hill (0-6, 5.58) on the hill. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
