Indians Defeat Bats, 5-1, Sunday Night at LSF

LOUISVILLE, Ky - The playoff-bound Indianapolis Indians (83-60) handed the Louisville Bats (63-80) their 10th straight loss, 5-1 on Sunday night.

The Indians grabbed an early lead in the top of the second inning off of an RBI double from righty Tyler Glasnow scoring two runs.

Kristopher Negron was able to cut the early Indians lead in half with his fourth home run of the season to make it a 2-1 ballgame. The Indians tacked on another run in the top of the seventh with Gorkys Hernandez's RBI single up the middle for a 3-1 lead over the Bats.

Right-hander Robert Stephenson (L, 4-4, 4.04) went seven and two thirds of an inning and gave up seven hits, three runs all earned, walked two and struck out three. Brennan Bernardino came in to relieve Stephenson and closed out the inning.

Glasnow (W, 2-1, 2.20) went seven and a third of an inning, he gave up six hits, only one earned run, and recorded eight strikeouts.

Indianapolis cushioned their lead in the top of the ninth with a two-out triple from Josh Bell that scored two runs and increased the lead to 5-1. The Bats were unable to rally in the home half, losing their 10th straight game.

The Bats final game of the season falls on Labor Day tomorrow and will have 1:05 p.m. start time. On the mound is the lefty that started the season out for the Bats, David Holmberg (7-7, 4.45). As for the Indians, right-hander Chris Volstad (11-7, 3.33).
