Indianapolis Indians News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - The Indianapolis Indians and Rochester Red Wings both tallied two solo home runs and four total extra-base hits but the Tribe edged their hosts, 4-3, on Tuesday at Frontier Field.

Indianapolis (22-21) is now 10-2 at Frontier Field dating back to 2013.

Minnesota's top prospect, No. 2 on Baseball America's Top 100 list, Byron Buxton lofted a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first to give the home club the early lead.

Danny Ortiz, visiting his old team for the first time since playing for the Red Wings last season, belted his fifth home run of the year in the third inning to level the score at one.

The Red Wings (25-20) ended their turn at the plate on a double play in three straight innings to open the game.

The Tribe added on in the fourth. A leadoff walk from Pedro Florimon was followed by a base hit by Josh Bell to put the Indians in business. After scoring one run on a ball in play, Max Moroff doubled home Bell on a deep drive to the notch in Frontier Field's left center gap.

Indians starter Frank Duncan (W, 1-1) settled in nicely after the leadoff homer, putting up four scoreless frames before getting in a jam in the sixth. He finished with 5.2 innings, five hits, two earned runs, a walk, and two strikeouts to earn the win.

He was replaced by Curtis Partch, who extended his hitless streak to 7.1 innings after 2.1 frames of shutout ball.

Andrew Albers (2-1) received the loss after allowing three runs in 5.1 innings.

Rochester plated a run in the sixth, but wouldn't score again until Kennys Vargas homered in the ninth off of Jorge Rondon who collected his third save.

Meanwhile, Ed Easley's bat made noise in the seventh on his first home run since last July.

Action at Frontier Field will resume tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m.
