Flurry of Roster Moves Announced Today

Charlotte Knights News Release
1B/3B Nicky Delmonico, who was leading the Southern League in batting with a .338 mark, was promoted to the Charlotte Knights today from Double-A Birmingham. Delmonico, a native of Knoxville, TN, was also first in the Southern League in home runs (10), slugging percentage (.676), extra-base hits (26), and total bases (96). He is also tied for third overall in the SL in hits (48) and second in RBIs (31). He was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on February 11, 2015.
In other roster moves effective today, RHP Charlie Shirek, who started the 2016 season on Charlotte's disabled list and was activated on May 22, was released today after making one appearance with the Knights on May 22 (1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER). Also released today was 1B Travis Ishikawa, who hit .201 with six home runs and 18 RBIs with the Knights in 40 games this season.
Along with Delmonico, RHP Tyler Barnette was promoted back to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham today. With the Knights, Barnette has appeared in 11 games this season and is 1-1 with a 7.58 ERA over 19.0 innings pitched. The Hickory, NC native was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 14th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. Both infielder Carlos Sanchez and right-handed pitcher Erik Johnson were optioned to Charlotte from Chicago yesterday and each player will join Charlotte's active roster today. Catcher Vinny Rottino was placed on the DL today. Rottino appeared in 16 games with the Knights this season and hit .256 with one home run and six RBIs.
