Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Josh Bell doubled home Adam Frazier from first base to cap a three-run, ninth-inning comeback as the Indians rallied to defeat Syracuse, 5-4, on Sunday at Victory Field.

The Indians won the series with Syracuse 2-1 and improved to 33-30 overall.

Matt Skole and Matt den Dekker both beat the shift with infield hits in the second inning for Syracuse (30-31). The Indians erased one runner on a double play, but an error by Williams at first allowed Skole to come home.

Pedro Severino belted a home run to left field in the third to make it 2-0. The visitors added on to that lead in the top of the fifth with two runs on four hits in the frame.

Indianapolis struck back in the bottom of the fifth, plating two runs of their own. Max Moroff walked ahead of Frazier, who entered the day as the IL's new batting leader. Frazier stayed hot, crushing an RBI triple to deep center before scoring himself on a ground ball by Bell.

Tribe starter Trevor Williams performed better than his line indicates, finishing with 6 IP, 11 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO. Chiefs hitters took advantage of defensive shifts on several occasions for infield hits.

With the Indians facing a 4-2 deficit in the ninth, Pedro Florimon worked a one-out walk to get things started. Alen Hanson then singled through second base and Max Moroff delivered the comeback's first RBI with a base hit of his own. With runners on the corners, Frazier beat out a potential double play as Hanson scored to keep the frame alive. With two away and Frazier on first, Bell connected on a Martin mistake pitch to drive a ball deep to left center and allow the speedy Frazier to score from first.

Wilfredo Boscan (4-5) was credited with the win for a scoreless ninth. Rafael Martin (1-3) was charged with a loss and a blown save for his time on the mound as the Indians rallied.

The Tribe will enjoy an off day on Monday before coming back refreshed and ready to host Pawtucket at 7:05 p.m.
