Syracuse (30-31) started the scoring in the second inning. Matt Skole reached on an infield single to the left side to start the inning off Trevor Williams. Severino then led off the third inning with his second home run of the season over the left-field fence to push the lead to 2-0.
The Chiefs added two more runs in the fifth. Trea Turner reached on a bunt single back to the mound and moved to second when Williams' throw sailed wide of first, the pitcher's third error of the game. Turner advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Steve Lombardozzi. After a pop out, Skole singled home Turner for a 3-0 Chiefs lead. Den Dekker followed with a single to right, and Skole moved to third on an error on right fielder Willy Garcia, Indianapolis' fourth error of the game. Skole scored on Jason Martinson's single to extend the lead to 4-0.
Indianapolis (33-30) started the comeback in the bottom of the fifth. Voth walked Max Moroff with one out. Adam Frazier, the league's leading hitter by average coming into the game, followed with a triple to deep right-center, scoring Moroff to cut the lead to 4-1. Bell then grounded out to first, bring home Frazier and cutting the lead in half.
The Indians finished the comeback in the ninth off Rafael Martin. Pedro Florimon walked with one out. Hanson then singled, putting runners on first and third. Bell then doubled to deep center, bring home Frazier and giving Indianapolis the walk-off win.
The victory gives the Indians the win in the season series over the Chiefs, taking four of the seven games. Syracuse continues its road trip Monday night in Louisville.
