Independence Extend Forth Straight Home Win, Seventh Game Beatless

Charlotte (NC) - The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to seven games with a fourth consecutive home victory over Saint Louis FC on Saturday night. The 2-1 win moves the team into the 10th position in the USL Championship Eastern Conference, which is the final playoff spot.
The Independence got off to a glowing start as forward Dominic Oduro connected with Niki Jackson on a headed goal. Jackson has two goals and one assist in the last three games for the Independence.
After the halftime break, the Independence double their lead when defender Joel Johnson broke away from the Saint Louis defense and picked out Enzo Martinez for the eventual game-winner.
However, Saint Louis came roaring back in the closing act of the game. In the 75th minute, forward Caleb Calvert headed in a Lewis Hilton corner kick to put the away side with in striking distance. Furthermore, Independence defender Joel Johnson was shown a red card for a tackle on Kadeem Dacres. The Independence would see out the remainder of the match with 10 men.
The Charlotte Independence will next be in action as they travel to take on Atlanta United 2 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Wednesday, July 24th. The official watch party will be host at Jack's House Soccer Bar and Event Space.
