Matthews (NC) - The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team were topped by Loudoun United FC 3-1 on Saturday night at the Sportsplex at Matthews. After going up a goal, Loudoun bookended the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half for what proved to be the game-winner.
In the 30th minute, Independence forward Enzo Martinez assisted Dominic Oduro for the first score of the game. It was the third time this season, the pair linked up for a goal.
The Independence will next play on Tuesday, May 14th versus the Florida Soccer Soldiers at the Sportsplex at Matthews in the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The game will be free and open to the public. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.
