Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - At the annual Members' Assembly, Wednesday night at Cinéma Impérial, the Montreal Impact unveiled the entire programming of its 25th anniversary in order to mark its first quart-century of history.
The club will put in place a Wall of Fame at Stade Saputo to pay tribute to former players that have distinguished themselves over the years. The first players to be inducted on the Wall of Fame will be honoured during the home opener at Olympic Stadium on March 17.
Three other 25th anniversary thematic games will take place during the 2018 season: the 25th anniversary and the club's championships commemorative game on Monday, May 21, exactly 25 years after the club's first home game, the local talent theme will be put forth on Wednesday, June 13, and finally our international dimension will be underlined on Saturday, July 14.
Former captain Patrice Bernier was named ambassador for the 25th anniversary. He will act as the club's spokesperson at various promotional events during this historic year and will occupy a liaison position with former players who will now have access to Club 93 at every game.
Supporters will also be able to discover a historic path at Stade Saputo via a series of 25 structures showcasing 25 of the club's biggest moments.
The Montreal Impact's website will also display a special section to celebrate this quarter-century of history.
The 25th anniversary's emblem will be proudly displayed on the team's 2018 jersey and commemorative jerseys from recent seasons will be put on sale.
A wine dedicated to the 25th anniversary will also be launched in the next few hours.
The Montreal Impact Foundation will once again organise the "C'est mieux en bleu" gala to kick off the season on March 14, which will exceptionally include some former players for its fifth edition.
Finally, the department of community relations will continue to give back to the Montreal community by carrying out 25 acts of generosity to thank the different actors supporting the club since day one. The initiatives will affect the four principal causes supported by the club: healthy lifestyle, health, education and inclusion.
