Carter Verhaeghe scored twice to help the Niagara IceDogs beat the Sudbury Wolves 5-4 Friday night in Sudbury.

The Wolves struck first as Brady Pataki's pass out front and bounced off an IceDogs skate and in. The lead wouldn't last long, however. Four goals in just over three minutes from Mikkel Aagaard, Christopher Paquette and two from Verhaeghe gave the IceDogs a 4-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Brendan Perlini added to the lead just 42 seconds into the second period with his ninth of the season. Kyle Capobianco and Pavel Jenys answered for the Wolves to make it 5-3 heading into the final frame.

Chad Heffernan scored with less than two minutes left in the third, but the IceDogs held on to win their fourth straight.

Goaltender Brent Moran made 25 saves for the win.

The IceDogs are back in action Tuesday night when they host the Mississauga Steelheads.
