Oshawa Generals News Release

Despite putting 44 shots on net, the Generals fell 3-2 to the Frontenacs in Kingston tonight. Both teams fought hard throughout the game with outstanding goaltending from both sides. This is the third time the Frontenacs have come out on top over the Gens.

It was a slower start to the game, but it was Oshawa who managed to be up 1-0 first. Michael Dal Colle set up Sam Harding in front of Kingston's net and Harding picked up his 10th goal this season. Sonny Hertzberg was also credited the other assist. Only 43 seconds later, the Frontenacs came back with a rebound goal by Juho Lammikko. The only penalty of the period went to Hunter Smith for high sticking, and it was Roland McKeown who took advantage of the extra man on the ice. McKeown's shot on goal was initially called off by the officials but was later determined a good goal. Even though they managed to put twelve shots on their opponents net, the Generals finished the first period trailing by one.

The teams came back in the second period with pressure from both sides. Just over six minutes into the game, Michael McCarron and Jacob Graves dropped the gloves, which got the crowd and benches fired up. At 7:38, Corey Pawley was called for interference and gave the Generals their first power play of the game. They lived up to their status of having the number one ranked power play in the league by tying the game up at 2-2. This time it was Tobias Lindberg with his 18th goal of the season, with assists by Dal Colle and Carlisle. Just over 14 minutes into the second, Josh Brown received two minutes in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. However, it was the Generals who had two close shorthanded chances. Oshawa's second power play of the night came after newly acquired Cody Caron sat for hooking, but this time they had no luck. At the end of the period, the game was tied up at 2-2.

Both teams were looking to get an early lead in the third period. A bit of a scrum broke out in front of Appleby, which resulted in a goal under review. After the goal was called off, Lawson Crouse was given a penalty shot but was stopped by Appleby. Anthony Cirelli had a couple opportunities later in the period but still no luck. A holding penalty to McEneny gave the Generals their third power play of the game but regulation time ran out and the score ended in a 2-2 tie.

The Generals went into overtime with another 1:38 on the power play but the Frontenacs were able to kill it off. Oshawa had six shots on net during the five-minute overtime, which eventually led to a shootout. McEneny was up first and put the puck behind Appleby. Lindberg shot first for the Generals but was stopped by Peressini. Samuel Schutt was the second shooter for the Frontenacs and made it past Appleby. It was up to Dal Colle to keep the Generals in but Peressini stayed on his game and the Frontenacs took the 3-2 win.

Despite the loss, it was a big night for a few of the Generals. Dal Colle's assist in the first extended his point streak to 21 games, Josh Brown played his 200th regular season OHL game and Sam Harding played his 100th regular season OHL game.

The Generals visit the Peterborough Petes tomorrow in a 7:05p.m. puck drop. Oshawa will be back on home ice on Sunday when they take on the Mississauga Steelheads for the third time this season. To purchase tickets, click here, visit the GM Centre Box Office, or call 1-877-436-8811.
