Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs picked up their second victory in as many nights over a Central Division opponent, defeating the Sudbury Wolves 5-2 in Sudbury on Friday night.
The first period would see the IceDogs get off to a bit of a slow start, falling behind 2-0 in the first 13 minutes. Niagara would be unfazed however as Ryan Strome and Freddie Hamilton would both strike in the last five minutes of the period to make it 2-2 after the first period of play. Shots in the period were 14-9 in favour of the visitors.
The second period would see things settle down a bit, with the IceDogs taking their first lead of the game when Tom Kuhnhackl would put home a shot in front for the only goal of the period to make it 3-2 after 40 minutes. The goal was Kuhnhackl's third in four games since his return to the lineup last Friday.
The third period would see Freddie Hamilton stretch the Niagara lead to 4-2 tipping home a point shot from brother Dougie for the second time on the night. Andrew Agozzino would then put one into the empty net to make it a 5-2 final for the IceDogs.
Final shots on the night were 40-21 in favour of the IceDogs as Christopher Festarini improved his record to 9-3 since coming over to Niagara.
The IceDogs are back in action tomorrow night when they visit the Barrie Colts to finish the third game of three Central Division battles in three nights.
