Blizzard of disappointments
January 13, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release
The new guy, Mike Cazzola is going to fit in REALLY well around here...snapping one past Pete's net minder Andrew D'Agostini just twelve seconds into the first. Seriously! The first shift of his first game and the first time he touches the puck...magic. Unfortunately, we couldn't keep that magic flowing. We did get two more goals, both from Shayne Prince, but Peterborough just kept coming eventually getting the 5-3 W for themselves. It's a Bank Street Blues night tonight. (One WAS an empty-netter though so...in my mind....does it really count?)
In the stands lots of kids and parents braved the storm so we had a lot of fun! We unveiled a brand new section...the Sweetest Seats! They're right on the glass so you feel like you're in the heart of the action. (Close enough to be spit on!) And they have their own dedicated server so you don't have to miss any of the action getting drinks or snacks. Really, so long as you have a strong bladder, you'll never have to get up at all! Check out all the info on our website.
During the intermissions we were inundated with Timbit players from Ottawa Centre. I got to talk to Anastasia (NOT Ana as I was told the nickname was only because the whole one didn't fit on her helmut) and she says she's going to not only be the first girl to play in the OHL, but she's definitely going to play for us! She was little, but pretty feisty...I don't doubt she will.
So, not a pretty night on the ice, but Sunday is a new day and a new opportunity. The Bulls are in town and I think our record speaks for itself there. Go team!!!
So just one last thing before I go. Coming up on Monday night at BMO Bank of Montreal in Barrhaven (Strandherd at Greenbank) it's the ultimate 67's fan contest. You could win tickets to the Memorial cup, but you gotta show us how big a fan you are...all the deets are on the website. Check it out and we'll see you there between 5:30 and 7:00 PM.
Happy shovelling!
