IceDogs Fall to Battalion on Record Setting Teddy Bear Toss Night

The Niagara IceDogs fell to the North Bay Battalion, by a score of 6-1 at the Meridian Centre Friday night on Teddy Bear Toss night.
While the score was unfortunate, the real winners on the night were Victim Services Niagara (organization that assists children and families involved in traumatic or tragic circumstances), as well as Niagara Regional Police Service's Sergeant Neal Orlando's bear and a book program (where a toy is paired with a new book and given to children as a Christmas present) administered through Village Of Hope (an organization that provides community support for less fortunate families and children in the Niagara Region), who will be receiving a record number of stuffed animals thanks to the generosity of the IceDogs faithful.
The IceDogs started out the game strong putting the pressure on in the Battalion zone, coming close on a few prime chances. North Bay would open the scoring however, scoring on a 2-on-1 chance while shorthanded. The IceDogs got the momentum back and sent the teddy bears flying when Brendan Perlini came down and sent a quick wrist shot through the five hole of Battalion goaltender Jake Smith to make it 1-1. That would be the score after one as the IceDogs lead in shots by a count of 8-7 in the games' opening twenty minutes.
The second period would be a tough one for the IceDogs as the Battalion managed to go on to score four unanswered goals in the period. Shots on goal in the period favoured the Battalion 17-10.
The start of the third proved it just wasn't the IceDogs night asNorth Bay would score the only goal of the frame to make it a 6-1 final. The shots on goal favoured the Battalion, 9-7 in the period.
The IceDogs will be in Barrie tomorrow night to challenge the Colts, and back at home next Thursday, December 3rd to face off against the Mississauga Steelheads. Tickets are still available for all IceDogs' home games and can be purchased at all IceDogs' ticketing locations.
