April 18, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
St. John's IceCaps News Release

Rookie goaltender Connor Hellebuyck was the big winner as the St. John's IceCaps presented their 2014-15 player awards prior to Saturday's season finale versus the Springfield Falcons.

Hellebuyck claimed Most Valuable Player, Rookie-of-the-Year and Molson Cup Three Stars Award honours for his outstanding freshman season. The Commerce, MI native leads all American Hockey League (AHL) goaltenders in games played (58) and saves (1666) and is second in wins (28). He also represented the IceCaps at the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic in Utica, NY.

Top Defenceman and Statoil Community Man of the Year awards went to Will O'Neill. The native of Salem, Mass. currently leads St. John's in scoring with 47 points and stood out among all IceCaps for his volunteer efforts in the community.

The Fans Choice Award was presented to Patrice Cormier, who collected the most votes in an IceCaps Facebook page contest. An original IceCap, Cormier's aggressive style has made him a fan favourite during his time in St. John's. His efforts were rewarded this season with multiple promotions to the parent Winnipeg Jets.

And finally, the IceCaps Hardest Working Player was sophomore forward JC Lipon, who sits atop the standings after earning six selections throughout the season. Lipon leads the IceCaps in penalty minutes (163) this season and displayed a strong work ethic throughout the campaign, suiting up in 75-of-76 games.
