Ice Flyers Release 2011-2012 Roster and Announce Captains

After a solid couple weeks with plenty of talent to choose from, Ice Flyers' Head Coach has narrowed his team down to 18 for the start of the 2011-2012 regular season. This year's opening day roster sees familiar faces with numerous returning players, a couple players picked up through trades during the off-season, and some fresh rookies intending on making an impact in the SPHL.
Gordon commented on the composition of his team. "We are going to be a team of speed, skill and work ethic. From what I have seen already out of my guys is better than at any point during last season. The attitude in the room is extremely positive and these men are ready and beyond willing to get to work."
Coach Gordon has named Dan Buccella, Player-Assistant Coach, the captain for this season. "Bucky is a natural leader. He encompasses all aspects of what a leader should be and what I expect out of my captain. It was an easy decision to place that 'C' on his jersey for this season," Gordon said of his selected captain.
Buccella's support from the assistant captains will come from the reigning SPHL Rookie of the Year, Chris Wilson, and 7-year Pro veteran and a member of 3 consecutive SPHL Championship squads, Mike Carter. "Willy had a phenomenal rookie campaign and will be a great leader, especially leading us on the scoreboard. Carter has the experience and has been through what it takes to win championships. That is something that cannot be taught. Both of these assistants have unique ways to lead, and that is exactly what successful teams need," Gordon added.
