Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, Louisiana-Louisiana IceGators Coach Kevin Kaminski announced today the club's active roster. Sixteen players that participated in training camp remain on the roster, including eight forwards, six defensemen, and two goaltenders. Twelve men were cut.

"It was a very competitive camp, and we had to make some difficult decisions," said head coach Kevin "Killer" Kaminski. He added, "The guys that made it can't afford to take a day off, as lots of other players from other leagues will be cut as well. They have to come to the rink and show me they want to be here. No job is safe."

Two new signees will join the IceGators in time for the beginning of the 2011-2012 season. The team has picked up forwards Alex Morton and Jordan Oye. Both played junior hockey in Canada before playing collegiately at the State University of New York-Fredonia. Morton, a native of Cannington, Ontario, scored 34 goals and picked up a total of 88 points during his collegiate career. Last season, he played three games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL, picking up an assist during his time with the team. Oye, a native of Richmond, British Columbia, scored 45 goals and earned 111 points while at SUNY-Fredonia.

To make room for Morton and Oye, the IceGators placed forwards Dennis Sicard, Todd Collins, and Willie Boyle on waivers. In another move, the IceGators placed defenseman Phil Crea on the 30-day injured reserve list.

The IceGators will open the regular season tomorrow night in Fayetteville, North Carolina, against the FireAntz. The IceGators' first home game will take place on Friday, November 11, when they host the Augusta Riverhawks in the Cajundome.
