Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Pensacola Ice Flyers (3-5-3) couldn't solve a hot goalie as they fell 3-1 to the Huntsville Havoc (9-3-0) on Friday night inside Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center.

The Havoc scored first when Dylan Nowakowski caught Ice Flyers goalie Matt Zenzola out of the net 6:49 into the first period. Huntsville doubled their lead with a wraparound goal off the stick of Lou Educate with 5:09 left in the first.

Nowakowski scored his second of the game just 2:39 into the second to push Huntsville's lead up to 3-0. The remainder of the second and the majority of the third proved to be scoreless. Ice Flyers coach Kevin Hasselberg decided to pull Zenzola with a few minutes remaining. The decision ended up bearing fruit but it was a little too late. Nick McParland scored an extra attacked goal with only 10 seconds left in the third. Chad Brears and Brandon Lubin assisted on the goal that broke up Havoc goalie Tyler Steel's shutout bid.

Zenzola stopped 16 of the 19 shots that Huntsville managed to put on net as his record moved to 2-2-2.

The Ice Flyers return to the Pensacola Bay Center on Saturday for the second half of this back-to-back with the Huntsville Havoc. It will be Military Appreciation Night inside the Hangar. Active Duty and retired military members can show their military IDs at the Box Office to purchase Center Ice tickets for 25% off. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
