Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs (34-14-5) won their fourth straight game, tonight defeating the Las Vegas Wranglers (20-25-5) by a score of 4-3. The Ice Dogs now have 73 points in the West Division and maintained their four point lead over second place Alaska who also won tonight.

Long Beach got the scoring started early, as Marco Rosa notched his 24th goal of the year unassisted just 1:10 into the game. Ice Dogs leading scorer, Evan Cheverie, made it 2-0 at 16:02 on the power play with assists to Chris Kenady and Marco Rosa. The goal extended Cheverie's point scoring streak to six games, his longest so far this season.

In the second, Las Vegas got on the board with a goal by former Ice Dog Jeff Attard on the power play, but Long Beach again took a two goal lead when Dan Watson scored with assists to Cheverie and Kenady. Cheverie scored his third point of the night at 18:28 of the second period to give the Ice Dogs a 4-1 cushion heading into the third.

In the third period, the Wranglers made the game interesting by scoring two goals, one by Jason Bonsignore and the other by Ryan Gaucher, to bring the score to 4-3. However, the Ice Dogs were able to keep the puck out the rest of the way and earn the win. Olivier Michaud, who made his fourth consecutive start for the Ice Dogs since Chris Madden was called up, made 24 saves. Sebastien Centomo was credited with the loss for the Wranglers, making 34 saves.

Long Beach will play their next game at home on Friday, February 25th, taking on the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30 PM. For more information, call (562) ICE-DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com.
