Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors will look to get back on the winning track with a pair of games this weekend. On Friday night they'll travel to Long Beach to meet up with the first place Ice Dogs at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday they will host the San Diego Gulls as SpongeBob Squarepants comes to town for a 7:00 p.m. game.
SpongeBob Squarepants appears courtesy of Bright House Networks, Real Rock 93.1 and Subway. He will be available for photos throughout the night and will participate in on-ice activities and contests. One of the most popular entertainers to come to CondorsTown, last year's appearance by SpongeBob brought in the third-largest crowd of the season at over 6,500 fans. In 2002-03, SpongeBob brought the second-largest Condors crowd of the season at over 7,500.
In addition, there are two great opportunities for discounts on tickets to Saturday's game. It's a Bright House Networks Family Night for all Bright House subscribers, who can purchase tickets to the game for just $5 apiece by presenting the coupon found in their cable bill. It's also Subway Discount Night. Fans can receive 2-for-1 admission with a coupon from any Bakersfield Subway location.
The Condors are currently in third place in the West Division, trailing first place Long Beach by seven points in the standings, as Bakersfield has dropped three straight and the Ice Dogs have won four in a row. The Condors are three points behind second-place Alaska, who has won three straight and plays tonight in Peoria. San Diego is hot on the Condors trail but currently out of the playoffs. The Gulls are six points behind the Condors in the West.
Saturday's game will be carried live on Bright House Networks Cable Ch. 21 with the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl and former Condor Kevin Barrett handling the color commentary. All Condors games home and away, can be heard live on the Condors Flagship station, KGEO AM 1230 and also live on www.bakersfieldcondors.com.
