Byron Rucker resigns as Grrrowl GM

GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that Executive Vice President and General Manager Byron Rucker has resigned his position and will pursue other business opportunities. Assistant General Manager Ryan Stewart and Finance Assistant Karen Childress will handle the majority of Rucker's responsibilities for the remainder of the season, effective February 27th.

"Byron has been a tower of strength for us through this period of time," said Carl Scheer, Chairman and CEO of the Greenville Grrrowl and ScheerSports. "He has been a long-time, dedicated associate that we will miss dearly. We know he'll go on to great things and greater successes."

Rucker attended Presbyterian College, receiving a B.A. in History and a minor in Physical Education/Coaching. After joining ScheerSports in 1997, Rucker began developing the operation and entertainment for the Greenville Grrrowl. He was involved in the direct day-to-day operations of the Grrrowl, the Carolina Rhinos, and the Greenville Groove. Rucker was named the Executive Vice President / General Manager of ScheerSports in June of 2002.

The Grrrowl will return to the BI-LO Center this weekend to play the Charlotte Checkers on Friday and the Pee Dee Pride on Saturday. Friday is Church Night, with a free post-game concert featuring FFH. Greenville is 28-20-4 overall, having won 10 of its last 13 games.
