Gulls dump on Salmon Kings

Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC – San Diego Gulls Head Coach Martin St. Amour must have felt Goaltender Eddy Fehri was the problem on Tuesday, so on Wednesday he elected to start Mattieu Chouinard as his starter between the pipes.

The Victoria Salmon Kings still under-manned with only 12 skaters to start the game, including newcomer Greg Keith, did not have the spark they showed the faithful at Bear Mountain Arena on Tuesday.

The Gulls beat the Salmon Kings 4-1 to move four points back of the idle Fresno Falcons.

David Karpa and Max Birbraer set up the Gulls first goal from defenseman Ian Forbes at 15:36 of the opening frame. San Diego came out looking to bury the Salmon Kings in the second and Chris Lynch set up Nick Ganga's shorthanded marker also the game winning goal.

The Gulls did not look back from there with Victoria born Sean O'Connnor and Sylvain Deschatelets adding to the score sheet. Victoria's only response came from forward made defenseman Chris Corrinet in the third but it was not enough and the Gulls took the 4-1 victory.

The Salmon Kings welcome the Las Vegas Wranglers for the first time in the 2004-05 season on Friday February 25, 2005 for the opener of a three game set. Tickets are available for all Salmon Kings home games from www.selectyourtickets.com or by phone at 250-220-7777.
